Hey
We are running the half marathon again this year to raise money for the Pixi Foto Foundation and this year we are running especially for the children that unfortunately suffer with heart conditions and diseases.
We proudly support HeartKids Australia and all money raised from this year’s Sydney Running Festival will help HeartKids provide support to families raising and caring for children with cardiac conditions, and sometimes dealing with the loss of a child due to heart disease as well as medical and other equipment for the children’s hospitals at Westmead and Randwick.
Team PixiFoto Foundation has participated in the running festival for the past two years and in 2009 our team raised over $20,000 for kids in need.

Incidence of Childhood Heart Disease (CHD) is far greater than most people expect. CHD is the leading cause of death of young children in Australia, accounting for more than 30% of all childhood deaths, and takes more lives than all other childhood diseases combined. Although it comes as quite a shock, an astounding 6 babies each day in Australia are diagnosed with heart disease! More than 4 young Australians will die this week as a result of congenital heart disease.
Cures remain predominantly unknown and little in general is known about the disease and its causes. HeartKids is a support group for families of children with heart disease, be it congenital (born with) or acquired. Over the years, HeartKids NSW, with the help of members, sponsors and friends, has been able to help out the children’s hospitals in NSW by way of donations of money, equipment and research grants. As well as offering support to families, HeartKids aims to increase awareness in the general community and corporate sector about the high incidence of congenital heart defects and its ongoing consequences.
The PixiFoto Foundation’s fundraising efforts will go to assist the work being done by HeartKids NSW.
